«When We Disappear» is a story-driven and history-based puzzle-platformer set in World War 2 in 1943. It tells the story of a young girl who escapes the torments of the war and flees across Europe. «When We Disappear» aims to brings a crucial part of our history to the world in an immersive and impactful way and wants to spark players to think about our common past and the shared responsibility for our future. The story, game design and all settings are based on historic facts and are created in close partnership with historians of the renowned Institute of History Education and Memory Cultures in Lucerne. The project pushes the boundaries of independent, story-driven and history-based games and explores the potential of interactive storytelling for remembrance.
Future-oriented Holocaust education
Thanks to the partnership with the Institute of History Education and Memory Cultures, University of Teacher Education in Lucerne, When We Disappear is available for educators in the area of Holocaust Remembrance. Learning material can be used in fields such as eCommemoration (digital commemoration), European Memories and European Solidarity. Learning Material is available in German. The game is available in German and English.
